Allan Williams Turret.

Pillbox formed by a metal turret, which could be rotated through a full 360 degrees, set above a steel and brick-lined pit. It was designed for a machine gun to be fired either through the front loophole which was further protected by shutters, or through the circular opening in the roof in a light anti-aircraft role.
In the second photograph the turret has been taken out of the ground to illustrate the crew space beneath. To the rear is the access hatch. The opening would have originally had a cover.

Section Posts

Section posts are essentially hardened trench works. Constructed to bulletproof standard, occasionally without a roof, they are long and have a large number of embrasures (eleven in this instance). Shelves on which guns and spare ammunition can be rested, made of wood or concrete are fitted below the embrasures.
