St Helen's Grove, Burton Joyce, Nottinghamshire

This is the only likely candidate on St Helen's Grove, lots of recognisable features, but no blue-brick banding.

...to come

1a and 2a Peveril Drive, Nottingham

A pair of town houses listed as "possibles" by Brand. I would have said that a Fothergill modification to the second floor of earlier houses may have taken place.

Sites of...

I have taken some current shots of sites where Watson Fothergill buildings once stood

The family home, Mapperley Road, Nottingham

Now called Fothergill Court. The house was demolished in 1968.

Warehouse on Pilcher Gate, Nottingham

Built for A J Wooton in 1882, this was his first warehouse design. Now an apartment block I'm not sure when the Fothergill building was demolished.

The Black Boy Hotel, Long Row, Nottingham

Deemed by some to have been his masterpiece he rebuilt and extended this building between 1987 and 97. It was demolished 1969-70.

Wrongly attributed

Lambley Almshouses, Woodborough Road, Nottingham

Although Brand lists this as a Fothergill building, a copy of the plans for this building have "turned up in the Archives" and the design is by Arthur Brown the Borough Surveyor in 1896.
