Parts of the site affected
Naturally many parts of the site will be refined to reflect the transition:Submission
Select a NEW Category (from the short list), and then optionally add multiple tags via the tagging box.Search
Keywords entered in the text search will match the tags attached to an image. Some search results pages will show the tag(s) on the images, and where possible allow the search to be refined by those tags.
Advanced Search
the category dropdown will be removed but maybe a link to a tags browser (which will then be added as keywords) will be included.Image edit page
the category dropdown will be removed. but the historic category will still be visible. A new tagging box will be added.Photo page
Category not shown. Instead tags will be shown, which link though to a special tags browser.Multi-image editors
Where possible a tagging box will be included for each image on the page.New sections
tags will of course get a number of new sections, most notably a special tag browsing section but also a reusable tag browser used for adding tags to images. Also a new bulk editor for adding tags to images in large quantities.Lastly a number of new sections used to help the transition (tools for participating in the projects mentioned above).
