Casting a fairly wide net

Despite being out of the country for two and a half weeks in September, the last two months have seen me visiting quite a few myriads in search of matters industrial and a few personal points too.

September started in Devon with a day trip to Totnes that allowed me to grab a few vaguely industrial topics. On Sunday 2 September I met up with Ashley Dace at Kelly Mine for some photographs of this amazing micaceous haematite mine. Ashley had ridden his small motorcycle from Suffolk that morning! I was then out of the country for 17 days but got a few shots on my way in and out.

Sunday was another trip with Ashley Dace to sites in Worcester and Herefordshire SO8352 : Powick Mills by Chris Allen SO4565 : Caged wheel - Fishpool Valley by Chris Allen SO4263 : Mortimer's Cross mill by Chris Allen SO4939 : The Waterworks Museum - diesel fire pump by Chris Allen.

The following weekend on 14 October I went with a colleague to visit and event at Stotfold Mill and to see Stevington post mill and Bromham watermill. Monday 22 was a special train trip to Wales to ride both the Ffestiniog and Welsh Highland Railways. A long day but very enjoyable.

There was also another PotY nomination that didn't cut the mustard SK2625 : Claymills Victorian Pumping Station - Scammell by Chris Allen.

November's blog will start with a trip to Ironbridge for fireworks fun and frolics.
