Casting a fairly wide net
Despite being out of the country for two and a half weeks in September, the last two months have seen me visiting quite a few myriads in search of matters industrial and a few personal points too.
September started in Devon with a day trip to Totnes that allowed me to grab a few vaguely industrial topics. .
On Sunday 2 September I met up with Ashley Dace at Kelly Mine for some photographs of this amazing micaceous haematite mine. Ashley had ridden his small motorcycle from Suffolk that morning! .
I also had a quick look at Wheal Exmouth engine house at Christow .
The following day I had a pleasant round trip by boat from Totnes to Dartmouth and garnered a few personal points en route. .
I was then out of the country for 17 days but got a few shots on my way in and out.
September 22 was a nice day in Lyme Regis . The following Saturday I grabbed some local industry , a local mill that has long been in other usage and a total ruin .
Sunday was another trip with Ashley Dace to sites in Worcester and Herefordshire .
October started with a weekend in Devon and some reasonable weather .
The following weekend on 14 October I went with a colleague to visit and event at Stotfold Mill and to see Stevington post mill and Bromham watermill. .
It was then off for a weekend in Wales with friends. .
This weekend produced two PotY shortlisting but no joy .
Monday 22 was a special train trip to Wales to ride both the Ffestiniog and Welsh Highland Railways. A long day but very enjoyable.
The month closed with a special Hallowe'en event at Claymills Victorian Pumping Station .
There was also another PotY nomination that didn't cut the mustard .
November's blog will start with a trip to Ironbridge for fireworks fun and frolics.
