Boardwalk circuit in Cors Caron

By Rudi Winter

Just a short walk to stretch the legs on a Saturday afternoon. Starting from the old reserve car park, effectively a lay-by on the B4343, we followed the alignment of the abandoned Aberystwyth-Caerfyrddin/Carmarthen railway, which now serves as a long-distance cycle path. After passing the new-ish visitor centre, a small boardwalk circuit SN6862 : Boardwalk, Cors Caron by Rudi Winter leads into the bog and past some ponds, remnants from the times when peat was dug here SN6862 : Peat digging ponds, Cors Caron by Rudi Winter. A short branch leads to the massive glass-fronted bird hide, although February is perhaps not the best time of year for wildlife spotting here. The boardwalk then returns to the railway alignment, and the short walk back to the lay-by runs past Maes-llyn, where we saw a flock of birds and a couple of large geese taking off SN6962 : Ducks near Maes-llyn, Cors Caron by Rudi Winter.

This walk is completely flat, so no trip profile this time!
