A walk in the Hafod estate, Pont-rhyd-y-groes
Started from the main car park of Hafod estate near Cwmystwyth, following the blue and red waymarked paths into the Ystwyth gorge. There's a spectacular waterfall
in the Nant Peiran. A viewpoint on a retaining wall above the Ystwyth gives a good overview of the valley and the meandering river
. After crossing the Alpine bridge, the red track leads up to the southern boundary wall of the old estate
.
From here I tried to find my way across open moorland towards the upper village of Pont-rhyd-y-groes but must have missed a turn somewhere near Storehouse
and ended up in bog
. Back through dense forest
, past Dologau bridge
and back to the car park.
