Some fascinating places you can't see without getting your feet wet (at the very least!).
The only photos I can find from a sandbank that can’t be reached on foot: Sarn Badrig (St Patrick’s Causeway) off the coast of Wales
All the rest are man-made features. Maunsell Forts in the Thames Red Sands
Shivering Sands
Knock John
Forts built to protect Portsmouth Spitsand Fort
Horsesand Fort
Lighthouses Nab Tower Lighthouse
Eddystone Lighthouse
Wolf Rock Lighthouse
Bell Rock Lighthouse
Windmills on Burbo Bank in the Mersey
Experimental islands Built in the Thames for the planned Maplin Airport
Built in the Wash (only one is on the OS maps but both can be found on Google Earth) ![]() |

Here's one I got last weekend - the highest land in the square[*], and it's below mean low tide! Probably one for the "extremes" collection, too...
[*] Plockton, in the background, is beyond the boundary - and has 50 of its own Geographs. |

All that remains of Brighton's West Pier (November 2006) maybe there's even less left by now. |
