The idea I have for a themed gallery, is for a gallery that will contain photographs of the, National Memorial Arboretum, at Alrewas in Staffordshire. Hopefully people will submit photographs if they have visited the Arboretum, hopefully it will recieve quite a number of photgraphs as time goes on because the site is about 150 acres in size with various memorials, to different parts of the British Armed Forces, and it would be nice to see a gallery, which people could contribute to, to build up a gallery of photographs that people can enjoy. Seeing as the Arboretum has only been open since 2001, hopefully it would be a good idea to start a Themed gallery, which will record the Arboretum from the earlyish years for Geograph. The National Memorial Arboretum, is also the Location of the Armed Forces Memorial that was opened last year, it would nice to see photographs of that on the Geograph site. Hopefully its a good idea for a Themed gallery. |

I've started this Gallery as tribute to those who have served their country in the British Armed Forces, and also to record the National Memorial Arboretum, through photography for future generations to view. The National Memorial Arboretum, also contains within its' grounds a number of memorials to Civilian organisations and individuals who had no connection with the Military. The National Memorial Arboretum, is located in the National Forest, at Alrewas in Staffordshire, the grounds encompass a 150 acre site, within this site are numorous memorials and trees dedicated to the concept of remembrance. The National Memorial Arboretum, is also home to the Armed Forces Memorial, the United Kingdoms most recent National Memorial for those who have died serving their Country. The photographs below show two views of the Arboretum which were taken next to the Main visitors centre, One of the photographs shows the Millennium Chapel Of peace and Forgiveness, where Last post and reveille is played once everyday, and the other shows the Cloisters area. ![]() |

These photographs show the United Kingdoms, Armed Forces Memorial under construction in the grounds of the National Memorial Arboretum, Alrewas, Staffordshire. The photographs, I've included show not only the scale of the Armed Forces Memorial, but give the viewer of these photographs a sense of the scale of the National Memorial Arboretum, itself . Although, this is only a small part of the entire Grounds of the National Memorial Arboretum, as the entire Arboretum covers a staggering 150 acres ![]() |
