Geo-Trips overview map

The map below shows Geo-Trips submitted by Geograph members. Each point on the map represents a day trip by one Geograph-er to cover a number of grid squares of the British National Grid as shown on Ordnance Survey maps. The Geograph project aims to collect photographs and information for each grid square.

Pan around the map using the left mouse button, or use the arrows in the top left corner of the map. The +/- buttons on the map allow you to zoom in or out. Double click zooms in on the spot. Each Geo-Trip is marked on the map by a round symbol. Clicking the symbol gives details in a pop-up, and clicking the thumbnail in the pop-up takes you to the map page for the trip, with all the pictures and information shown on the map.

Please note that up until recently Geo-Trips currently only worked in England, Scotland, Wales and the Isle of Man, hence why not many trips in Ireland, however Ireland is now supported.

Leicester -- A drive from Hockliffe

SP7966

This is another of my continuing coverage of the Leicester area, as it is the closest city to me of a reasonable size to keep getting new parts on each trip. This was early in the year so sunset came in before 6pm, but I still managed to make a roughly circular trip around another quarter or so of the suburbs before it got too late. There are a number of routes there from London and also depends which side I need, but the apparently direct route from Milton Keynes is no longer used as besides th... [more]

A walk across London

On Saturday I travelled down to London on the train; I had booked a ticket to see the Holbein exhibition in the Queen’s Galley beside Buckingham Palace. My ticket was for entry at 3:15 in the afternoon. Arriving at Paddington Station with no plans for the morning and walking down into the underground to catch a tube train I was thinking of maybe going to Kensington and visiting one of the museums, but then I thought it is a reasonable day weather-wise, it’s not rain... [more]

Crossing Norfolk
Caister on Sea -- A drive from Barton Mills
by David Howard
TM1294

On another pre-Worboys sign mission (details on application), I took the quickest route anywhere from my house, as there is a 50-70 mph direct run there all the way from Hendon to virtually the Norfolk coast. It was dry thank goodness, and I managed to finish covering Great Yarmouth before it got dark. I only went there once before on holiday in 1978 where I gambled away all my holiday money in the arcades. They are all still there as before, but I didn't go in this time. Caister is a lovely lit... [more]
