Geo-Trips :: Pencaitland Railway Walk

East Lothian

A walk from West Seaton, Mon, 8 Jan 2018 by Anne Burgess

Taking advantage of a cloudless, windless, frosty day, we drove to the little car park at West Seaton and walked back to Inveresk, mostly on the Pencaitland Railway Walk, but with occasional diversions, and takng in part of the Dalkeith to Musselburgh Railway Walk as well. We were especially impressed by the number and quality of the information boards along the route, and quite surprised to realise just how much the area was changed by the development and then abandonment of the coal mining industry along the route.

Click the blue circles to see a photograph taken from that spot and read further information about the location. The blue lines indicate the direction of view. There is also a slideshow of this trip. ( )
