Geo-Trips :: Around Cwm Cerist & the Dovey Hills

Cwm Cerist

A walk from Dinas Mawddwy, Sun, 17 Oct 2010 by Richard Law

The route and photographic record of a 2 day trip (I did a short part of it on the Saturday afternoon, and this is the Sunday walk) picking up a few scattered Firsts around Dinas Mawddwy in October 2010. The weather was exceptionally clear and sunny, albeit a bit chilly overnight, but that just made ideal conditions for a wild camp. The lake on Foel Dinas held a small flock of Goosanders, which didn't take too kindly to my initial arrival, but they settled again overnight, only to be disturbed when I emerged from the tent early the next morning.

Overall, it's grand walking country, which few people seem to have cottoned on to, and only the crossing of the A470 brings you into much contact with the real world.

On the map below, the grey line is the GPS track from this trip. Click the blue circles to see a photograph taken from that spot and read further information about the location. The blue lines indicate the direction of view. There is also a slideshow of this trip. ( )
