Bude to Crackington Haven

Week 2- Day 3 – Monday 28 September 2009

Distance 10.2 miles, Ascent 2,664ft

Another fine day ideal for walking; leaving the B&B I walked into the centre of Bude, the first town since Bideford. Today’s destination was Crackington Haven and before leaving Bude I booked some accommodation for tonight. I didn’t want to arrive there at the end of the day and find there was no bed for the night.

With accommodation booked and food for lunch bought I headed south on the coast path. After yesterday’s tough walk the first part of today’s a fairly gentle walk, though as the day progressed the walk became more strenuous with more high rugged cliffs and like yesterday steep descents into valleys with the inevitable ascent back to the cliff tops. At the end of the day I arrived in Crackington Haven and found there was yet another steep climb up to the village of Crackington and my B&B for the night.
