SK5052 : Notts - NG15 (Annesley Hall Area) by David Hallam-Jones
This is the first view of the C12th Grade I-listed former Annesley Church that visitors see having entered the graveyard from the parking area and access path. The premises were deconsecrated in 1874 following the opening of All Saints' Church, Annesley village, that was designed to meet the needs of an industrialised village. The roof of this former church was removed and the walls were lowered several years ago due to them being considered unsafe. According to a gardener working in the grounds of the Annesley Hall (visible in the background) "several million pounds" have recently been spent on conserving this church, without any attention (to date) to access to it from the road.
