Milepost at Aston Bottom Lock
One of a series of mileposts along the Montgomery Canal, this one stands alongside the bottom of the three Aston locks. They are designed to be read by approaching boaters, so in fact Newtown is away to the right of the picture and Frankton to the left. It is unlikely that the canal will ever be restored through to its original terminus in Newtown, which has been built on.
