NT2371 : An April shower?

An April shower?
A common myth in the south of England is that Scotland is so far north of anywhere that it is under snow almost all year round. It is a convenient story to tell as it helps to keep potential English immigrants south of the Border. And here, on the Edinburgh Canal Society's garden at Harrison Park, is evidence that the myth might be true: it's April, more than two weeks into Spring, and snow has fallen overnight. Needless to say, the Englander who took this photograph knows that the Dorset coast, where he came from 25 years ago, suffers heavier snowfalls than the Forth valley and he has no desire to move back!
