Modern cairns at the Long Crags
Modern cairns at the Long Crags, taken 8 years ago
There is a relatively flat area here between the lower slopes of the crags and the much steeper rocky cliffs above. A group of modern cairns has been built at this spot; stone is abundant in this area: NS4376 : The Long Crags - field of boulders.

A few items, apparently made of plaster of Paris, had been incorporated into some of the cairns, perhaps as present-day votive offerings: NS4376 : A modern cairn on the Long Crags. Over the years, several different religious groups have used nearby NS4276 : Overtoun House; members of one of those groups probably built these cairns.
