NY8871 : Hadrian's Wall, broad and narrow
taken 15 years ago, near to Walwick, Northumberland, England
Hadrian's Wall, broad and narrow
As originally planned, Hadrian's Wall
Link was going to be 3 metres wide. But at a fairly early stage, this plan was abandoned in favour of a narrower Wall, 2 metres wide. Here near Black Carts Turret it is possible to see the narrow Wall built over traces of the older broad Wall. Seen on Hadrians Wall National Trail which runs 135 km from Bowness-on-Solway to Wallsend.
