SD9427 : The Long Causeway, west of Blackshawhead

taken 12 years ago, near to Blackshaw Head, Calderdale, Great Britain

The Long Causeway, west of Blackshawhead
The Long Causeway, west of Blackshawhead
The Long Causeway was an ancient packhorse route between Burnley and Halifax, which avoided the boggy valley bottom. Today it is a tarmac road, which suffers a little from being used as a rat run between Burnley and Hebden Bridge, and drivers going too fast. This view is looking west. As the road climbs from Blackshawhead the landscape becomes wilder.
