'Resolution' off Bangor
'Resolution' off Bangor
The 'Resolution' at anchor in Bangor Bay. The ship is used in the construction of offshore windfarms and is currently working on a project at Robin Rigg in the Solway Firth (see LinkExternal link ). It had anchored off Bangor to take shelter during stormy conditions in the Irish Sea. Its unusual shape comes from the six 130m legs which, once on site, jacks the vessel out of the water and provides a stable working platform at sea. See LinkExternal link for some technical info on the Resolution. See also TF5963 : Lynn Offshore Windfarm and Link for other images of the ship in and around Belfast.
