JB's Cider Press
JB's Cider Press
This is the cider press at John Batcheldor Cider (JB’s) in Maplehurst West Sussex. The picture was taken on twelfth night 2006, after wassailing the apple trees in the orchard. The press is well over 100 years old. It lay for years in a barn in Nuthurst it had not been used since before WW2, when the farmer used to charge 1d a gallon for pressing the locals apples. John rescued the press when he revived cider making in Maplehurst. JB’s is a very small scale traditional cider maker.
