Remains of Wavertree Windmill
All that remains of the Wavertree Post Mill, which actually stood, from the late 15th century, on a site a few metres north of here, before finally being demolished about 1916. When the houses were built in the 1980s, the foundations of the roundhouse and sandstone piers were moved and "recreated" in the front garden by the developers. The modern development of Wavertree as a suburb of Liverpool now rather hides the fact that this was once an exposed and windy spot.
