Rail - Road Bend
Rail - Road Bend
This bend is well over a kilometre long and is unusually wide. It connects Little Broughton with the A594 Cockermouth to Maryport Road. It began life as a mineral railway line and was relaid as a tarmac road to service the open cast coal mining to the west. Its curves stand out as unusual on both map and the ground.
