Strensall Common
This is a military training area which was established in the late 19th century for volunteer's camps, etc. The earth bank across the picture is the target end of the rifle ranges. The extensive area beyond the earth bank is managed as a nature reserve. Beware when the red flags are flying, they mean what they say!
