This channel is the mouth of Langstone Harbour, and is at the very Western end of Hayling Island. Across the water is Portsea Island (Portsmouth & Southsea), the channel was protected by Fort Cumberland (the chimney & radio tower in the distance), built in the C18th it was the last Bastioned fort to be built in England.
