This is a view across a reed bed on TL9701 : Asheldham Pits Was until recently a nature reserve managed by Essex Wildlife Trust LinkExternal link . Due to the expiry of the lease the management of the site has returned to the Gravel Extraction Company. The lake attracts wildfowl especially in winter when shoveler, pintail and wigeon have been known to mingle with the mallards.
