Borrodale House
Borrodale House
Bonnie Prince Charlie made this his headquarters on first arriving on the mainland of Scotland in August 1745. Following Culloden in April 1746 he sought refuge here at the home of Angus MacDonald of Glenborrodale & yet again in August 1746 ,after his adventurous journeys around the highlands as a fugitive, he was hidden in a cave near the house before making his escape to France from Loch nan Uamh a few miles away. In retribution the house was burned down by government troops.
