What lies beneath?
What lies beneath?
Situated in the Bear Pit, located to the west of Mersey Square, this manhole provides access to the left bank of the River Mersey. The Mersey flows through Stockport town centre but it is often unseen as it flows under Mersey Square and the nearby Merseyway Shopping Centre, which is built on stilts above the river.
