In total, some seven parks in the town were developed over some 100 years, with the Camden Park (1853-1863), following the success of Decimus Burton's Calverley Park (1828-1842).

Camden Park is a Victorian development of villas, set in parkland, named after Lord Camden, built between 1853 and 1863. The gate lodges were built earlier in the 1840s.
