Trains stop here
The "Battlefield Line", a preserved section of the former Nuneaton and Ashby-de-la-Zouch railway, runs between stations at Shenton, seen here, adjacent to Bosworth Field on which Richard III lost his crown to Henry VII in 1485, and Shackerstone, about 5 miles to the north. The footbridge, of lattice girder construction with tall timber panelling inside, was obviously not designed to encouirage engine-spotting; it is, however, now out of use, the footpath that crossed it having been diverted down to the station, where the railway is crossed on the level.
