Right round the bend in boats
The English canal system is very popular these days but this is not the queue for the next lock or the aquatic equivalent of the M25. Shackerstone on the Ashby Canal is simply a convenient place to moor own's boat between cruises and at least 26 owners have done just that. Hidden in the trees immediately beyond the canal is the "Battlefield Line" preserved railway, which runs south from here for about five miles to Shenton and the Bosworth batytlefield site.
