Royal Artillery at Millmount, Drogheda
Royal Artillery re-enactors attend one of the two new 9-pounders installed in the original mountings at Millmount. Through the smoke may be seen the spire of St. Mary's Church of Ireland where Cromwell made his breach of the town walls in September 1649. Cromwell's artillery was set up across a deep ravine called The Dale, where the row of redbrick cottages is situated. Aston, the Royalist governor, met his end in Millmount.
