A winter afternoon at Hammond's Pond
The lake here was created from the clay pits of an old brick works, owned by Archie Hammond. He developed the site into Pleasureland, opened in 1923. People paid to enjoy the park and gardens, with boating, dancing, tennis courts and an animal house. When Archie died, it became a municipal park. For more about Archie, see Link
