Thorpe Marsh cooling tower interior
This is the central control tower in the middle of the cooling towers. Just to illustrate how big these towers are the control tower measures 70' tall. It is completely dwarfed out of all proportion. The tower was lit up by our 3 high powered lamps making the shot look like a scene from Star wars. The power station has 6 cooling towers. These are 340ft high and have a 260ft diameter at the base. the power station closed in 1994.
