Dartmoor Forest: Brimpts Tin Mines
Dartmoor Forest: Brimpts Tin Mines
Near Dartmeet, and not far from Brimpts Farm, where there is a cafe. A small waterwheel and launders were installed by members of the Dartmoor Tinworking Research Group (DTRG) in 1999 in a gully where a 19th century wheel used to pump water from mine workings here. The shrouds of demonstration wheel were donated by the Dartmoor National Park; they came from a site used by Williams and Trigg of Newton Abbot. Regrettably the site has since been fenced off, probably for health and safety reasons, and by 2004 the wheel was disappearing under increasing vegetation
