The slightly drunken signpost indicates that walkers should stick close to the wall along the edge of the plantation lest they fall victim to a stray shell or bullet on the ranges. The wood is almost entirely a conifer plantation, although its name ['Spring'] would suggest ancient coppiced woodland.
