SE0997 : Hillside above Scar Spring Wood
near to Stainton, North Yorkshire, Great Britain

Hillside above Scar Spring Wood
The slightly drunken signpost indicates that walkers should stick close to the wall along the edge of the plantation lest they fall victim to a stray shell or bullet on the ranges. The wood is almost entirely a conifer plantation, although its name ['Spring'] would suggest ancient coppiced woodland.
