Dismantled railway, Longmoor
This used to be a military training area with a full scale railway which was built in 1902-7 by the Royal engineers, it was closed in 1969. Troops were trained in all aspects of train driving, signal operation, etc. so that they could commandeer trains behind enemy lines if required. Ever seen "Von Ryan's Express"?
