St Peter and St Paul Church, Aston Rowant
St Peter and St Paul Church, Aston Rowant
The original church is 11th or 12th century, possibly on the site of a pre-Conquest Saxon church. The tower was added in the 14th century. Elizabeth 1, when a princess, rode past here on her way to imprisonment at Rycote. The bell ringers were put in the stocks for ringing in her honour.
