SK4033 : Borrowash Weir
near to Elvaston, Derbyshire, Great Britain

Borrowash Weir
A clump of vegetation trapped on the lip of the weir creates a parting of the flow.
As can be seen this weir maintains a height four to five feet upstream which feeds the complex series of channels to the north. The last of which rejoins the river to the east of Borrowash bridge.
I suspect that the "natural" flow of the river once followed that northerly path forming a meander and that the main flow over the weir is a man-made channel cutting through the neck of that meander.
