near to North Cowton, North Yorkshire, Great Britain

Porch and tower, St Mary's church
The south porch and the tower of St Mary's at South Cowton. The church appears to be almost entirely of the mid to late 15th century. The quoins and other dressed stone is a greyish sandstone, but much of the walling can be described as 'rubble' with a variety of stone including local Permian sandstone, plus limestone brought to the area by glaciers.
