Ponies in Berry Wood, New Forest
Ponies in Berry Wood, New Forest
Beneath the beeches and oaks Berry Wood has an undercanopy of holly which provides winter grazing for the ponies. The holly tree on the left of the picture has been eaten up to the "browse line" beyond which the ponies cannot reach.
