NN2795 : Kilfinnan

near to Kilfinnan, Highland, Great Britain

An alluvial fan. Area of flat farmland jutting out into Loch Lochy, the land laid down by rocks and silt carried down the Kilfinnan Burn, a sizable river. These natural shorelines are not so common as a lot of lochs have had the water level raised for hydro electric generation. The narrows beyond (neighbouring square)are a marked channel for shipping passing up the Caledonian canal. Taken from the hillside above the farm.
