TF4050 : St.Mary's church, Old Leake, Lincs
taken 18 years ago, near to Old Leake, Lincolnshire, England
St.Mary's church, Old Leake, Lincs.
There are many grand 14th and 15th century churches in this part of the county, reflecting the late medieval prosperity of South Lincolnshire. St.Mary's is Decorated and Perpendicular with 12th century origins ... a few traces of which can still be found. Two lofty six bay arcades and some fine windows give a light and airy interior - a splendid church spoiled only by a sterile churchyard, denuded of its headstones.
