Gracemount tower blocks
Gracemount tower blocks
Multi-storey blocks of flats built for Edinburgh City Council by Crudens in 1962 (Garvald Court, Fala Court and Soutra Court). Due to be demolished on Oct 25 2009. Originally 125 replacement homes were planned to be part of a new wave of council-built houses - a mixture of for sale, market rent and affordable rent (as reported in the Evening News Jan 7 2009). The council now plans to allow 220 units, mainly three and four storey blocks of 'low rise' flats (Evening News Sep 16 2009). Construction likely to start in 2010.
