Slough to Windsor & Eton Central railway line
Slough to Windsor & Eton Central railway line
Viewed from the new Chalvey Bridge over the Jubilee River, a two-coach shuttle train from Slough heads for Windsor & Eton Central, so named to differentiate it from Windsor Riverside station which is on a different line entirely. The line was constructed by the Great Western Railway, supposedly in order to provide a railway route between Windsor Castle and London for Queen Victoria. It was opened in 1849.

The facilities on the line have been cut back through the years and it is now single track only. Interestingly though it is evident that this bridge was built with sufficient space to support a second track.

The train service is currently operated by First Great Western. The journey takes 6 minutes, and the train operates on a 20 minute weekday timetable.

The distant overbridge carries the A322 road.
