This gravestone is in the cemetery of the Ursuline Convent, Blackrock. Betty Bretherton, aged 1 year and 3 months, was one of 1,201 men women and children lost in the sinking of the Lusitania on Friday 7th May 1915, off the Old Head of Kinsale, Co Cork, Southern Ireland. The Lusitania, a transatlantic liner was sunk by two torpedoes fired from a German U boat.
