Photographed on the old A34 road, a long queue of traffic follows this heavy load. This kind of thing was the reason that the new A34 Newbury by-pass was built as long delays were caused by many lorries using the original route through Newbury on their way to Southampton. The load on this occasion was Bulleid Merchant Navy Class Locomotive No.35018 'British India Line' on the way to Alresford from Barry, South Wales.
