One of a row of shafts LinkExternal link which were dug along a lead and copper bearing quartz vein, which runs west to east in this area. Judging by the amount of material making up the crest around it, it must have been fairly deep at this point. It appears to have been backfilled although I didn't test this by walking into the crater... The main part of Esgair Hir mine LinkExternal link is located just east of here.
