Eckington Bridge and the River Avon
Eckington Bridge and the River Avon
The bridge here was rebuilt in 1729-30 reusing the foundations of the earlier, mainly timber, bridge of the 15th/16th century. It is so narrow that vehicle access is controlled by traffic lights. The bridge has had to be strengthened to cope with traffic and the ends of the iron rods inserted into the structure can be seen in this view.
