The FGD (Flue Gas Desulphurisation)plant is where the flue gases pass through a limestone gypsum system to remove sulphur dioxide from the gases before going up the chimney and into the atmosphere. The limestone gypsum residue created by the process is treated and sold to British Gypsum and used in the manufacture of plaster boards.
