The public footpath that links Ladcastle Road with the centre of Uppermill in the valley below crosses the main Huddersfield to Manchester railway line at this point.
With express trains bearing down on you at over 75mph you certainly have
to have your wits about you when crossing the busy track.
The line, which opened in 1848, is today the route of the TransPennine Express which is one of the few train operating companies in the United Kingdom running 24 hours a day including through New Years Eve night. LinkExternal link
